Dr. Tom Pitney

Dr Tom Pitney is a warm and approachable dermatologist providing comprehensive care for patients across Brisbane and Rockhampton. He has particular interests in inflammatory skin conditions, including psoriasis and eczema.

Thomas grew up in Brisbane’s western suburbs and completed his medical degree at Bond University, graduating in 2015 with a Dean’s Award. He has worked in several major Queensland Hospitals, including the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Townsville, and the Sunshine Coast, gaining broad experience across general and acute dermatology.

As part of his training, he also worked for a year as a fellow at the prestigious St John’s Institute of Dermatology at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London. During this time, he gained valuable exposure to a wide range of subspecialty clinics, including cutaneous lymphoma, hidradenitis suppurativa, immune blistering disorders and vitiligo, further shaping his clinical expertise.

He has also had extensive experience with clinical trials, being a sub-investigator in many international multicentre landmark trials for dermatology treatments.

He visits Rockhampton for outreach clinics in the first week of every month, at North Street specialist centre. Referrals for this service can be sent to his Brisbane office.

He also has an appointment as a consultant dermatologist at the Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane’s northside for their organ transplant service.

At Pitney Dermatology, Tom focuses on delivering clear communication, practical management plans, and collaborative care with referring doctors. He welcomes enquiries from GPs and is committed to providing timely appointments for patients with urgent dermatological needs.

Outside of work, Thomas enjoys staying active, travelling, and spending time with his family.
